DMZ Diary

#24 November 2003 , sometime after dinner

OK so I admit it, this entry is being written over six months after the fact, ressurecting theDMZ is taxing my memory for tracks that came and went from my record bag. And it's something of a challenge to remember which guest played in which week, but, everyone gets credit ultimately. The music still remains great, so enjoy it in your own particular manner.

Part 1

Artist Track Label Buy? (readme)
Bassbin Twins ESW Marine Parade
This is the intro track we play at the start of every show.

Free*Land
Supernatural Thing Marine Parade
The second track off the Free*Land album, this time showcasing Alison David's powerful vocal talents, as opposed to Bill Hicks ascerbic comedic talents

Freq Nasty
Punkadelic Acetate
From the album 'Bring Me The Head Of...' Freq Nasty provides a solid breaks track to tax your bassbins.
Cut La Roc
Stop! Skint
Another Skint track, but hey the label is replete with many great artists, it's the home of Fatboy Slim in the UK.

DJ Sneak
You Can't Hide From Your Du b Magnetic
I acquired a compilation of DJ Sneak tracks recently, and of course it had to include a version of his classic 'You Can't Hide From Your Bud' - this track is the dub version, lacking the vocal, but I guess it'll have to do until I can find the original mix.....

Superchumbo
The Revolution Twisted
I don't really play Diva driven house music on this show, and some people might put this track in that category. It's definately got a Diva, but this track has tougher beats than you'd find played at places like The EndUp.

Brothers Bud
Herbgrinder Finger Lickin'
Dare I ever let a show go by without playing track from Vinyl Addiction's resident breaksbeat label?
Kilonhertz
Three Girl Rhumba Southern Fried
A samplified, dance floor friendly reworking of the Wire track of the same title.

Pure Orange
Feel Alive Stealth
So if you haven't figured out what the sample is, go and look at the forst track on last weeks show ;-)
The Static Revenger
Happy Peopl
Supreme filter disco cheese, with a wee bit of a twist, I hear the producer recorded all the disco sample himself and then proceeded to cut them up and produce a new track.

Pizzaman
Happy People Loaded
Insanely happy record from another Norman Cook alias.

Tomaz vs The FilterHeadz
Sunshine (Scumfrog Mix) Intec
This is probably my favourite mix of this track, it still has all the great techy grooves but it adds a house sensibility that makes it a little less dark and more uplifting
Hybrid
Know Your Enemy Distinctive
Hybrid produced one of the best breaks albums of 2003, while Morning Sci-Fi was nowhere near as innovative as Wide Angle, it still proved to be packed with great moments and ideas that other producers would love to have created. Sure there are a couple of embarrasing moments, but the album is still well worth buying.

Dave Clarke
Way Of Life Skint
Dave Clarke also delivered a worthy album last year on Skint records, Dave rekindled the spirit of techno and provided hope to the fans of the genre who never lose the faith. Dave, we love ya!

Week 24 Guest - ??????
