DMZ Diary

#10 - May 15th 2003 - Reorganisation

So immediately, the smart ones amongst you will have noticed that the date on the show is more than a week later than the previous episodes, well this is in an effort to bring everyone into sync. Given that we're broadcasting on several stations people were transmitting episodes earlier than others, so my brand new records weren't quite as new when the show finally got broadcast. So... we've gone and got most of our affiliates up to date and you should be getting shows much more quickly these days.

and it gave me a much needed weekend holiday.

Tracklisting - Hour 1

Artist Track Label Buy? (readme)
Bassbin Twins ESW Marine Parade
This is the intro track we play at the start of every show. Slammin Beats!

Psycho Radio feat LC Anderson
Right Stuff Oxia
From the italian outfit that brought us the delightful nonsense of 'In the Underground' here's another vocal number with meaningless lyrics.

Timo Maas
Unite Perfecto
Timo Maas back with his first new record since his solo album.
Darren Emerson
H20 Underwater
Very limited edition release for this Daren Emerson number from his label 'Underwater' - sadly have to cut it short...

Beth Orton and The Chemical Brothers
The State We're In Freestyle Dust
Beth Orton is something of a regular vocalist for the Chems, this was the wonderful track which she contributed to their last album 'Come With Us'

The Chemical Brothers
Denmark Freestyle Dust
This plays out of the previous Beth Orton record on the same album, it's a great transition back up to house tempo.

PLanet Funk
Who Said (Moguai Mix) Illustrious
Yet another massive record coming out of Italy this year with Moguai adding in guitar samples for full rock anthem effect.
Virtualismo
Mismoplastico (Corvin Dalek Remix) Southeast
The original version of this is a very old record, in fact this remix is even a couple of years old, but it's still damn good stuff.

Mo-Dem
Contact (we've gotta Connect) (Warp Brothers Remix) Substance
A not so subtle combination of modem sounds and hard acid trance, music can be made from anything if you've got the imagination.
Hybrid
Celebrity Science Distinctive Breaks
Probably the most epic record Hybrid have unleashed since their astonishing Finished Symphony, The full version must be over 10 minutes long, but I can only play you part of it here.

BT
Flaming June Perfecto
Hybrid's epic can only be followed up with something this huge.... back in the days when they used the term 'epic house' instead of trance this near perfect record came along.

J Magick
Your Sound Metalheadzz
It's not often you get to mix out of a trance record into drum n' bass, in fanct it's not often that I get to play DnB - that's handled by DMZ's sister show - Junglezone.

Puretone
Addicted to Bass Illustrious
Not one but 2 Jungle records - Kryptyk will definately be on my case for this, but I love this record, probably the most MTV friendly Jungle track ever.
LFO
Low Frequency Bootilator White
A remix of an old classic originally from Warp records, there's some rumours going round as to who actually did this remix, but I hear the Plump DJ's have been giving it plenty of plays.
Meat Katie & Lee Coombes
The Hum (Meat Katie Mix) White
This week's installment of "Scott Loves Fingerlickin' Records" - featuring the twin breakbeat powerhouses of Lee Coombs and Meat Katie.
Tomcraft
Loneliness (Mux Mix) Reactor
The third monster track from Italy this week

Hour 2 - Special Guest - DJ J:Miah

J:Miah is the man behind the monthly Code Breaks room at San Francisco's legendary DNA Lounge - definately a club worth checking out (especially on the 10th of July when I'll be performing there).

Stay Funky....
see ya Next Week.
