Almost everything I play on the show comes from a trusty old vinyl copy, sometimes a CD version doesn't exist, at least at the time the show is broadcast. Furthermore much of the music I play is imported from Europe and can cost a lot to acquire, I'm enough of a music fan that I'll take the hit and pay the premium. Vinyl is also made in much smaller quantities, many of my records come from production runs numbering in the hundreds - by the time you hear the show it's entirely possible that the track I've played is no longer available.
I love vinyl it makes excellent sense for me as a DJ, it's the best format for mixing, and it plays host to many exclusive underground recording which will never make it onto CD (officially). But most people don't have the equipment any more and CD makes a lot of sense to consumers - which will be 90% of the fans of the show. But if you're a hardcore fan you can always try to acquire the original vinyl version, I'd suggest Groovetech as being probably the most consumer friendly online vinyl dealer.
For everyone else I'm going to try posting links to the important stuff at Amazon.com, mostly what I'm playing in the show, but also links to some albums and other items. In the tracklisting I try to link to the items on Amazon.com which contain the version I play on the show, but in some cases this version isn't available on CD, sometime's I'll post a link to the original album, because the album is excellent on its own. I try to make notes to this effect alongside the link.
Some tracks will be available as parts of DJ mix compilations, in these cases I'm only going to recommend a mix album if it's worth buying the whole thing.
So in short, a lot of the stuff played on the show is hard to acquire, and the versions you find in the shops may differ from the ones I play, I'm going to do my best to keep you informed of the records that matter, but there will be items you just can't buy.
